Skylanders 5 reveal date

I was at EB Games today and the manager said it has been revealed to him yesterday, and presumably other managers too. He also said the public reveal will be in three or four days. Very exciting news. So lets use the short time remaining to anticipate and discuss the possible gimmick and gameplay additions.

In regards to the choice being yours, i think there could be a number of story arcs which you pursue in any order, such as in SSF you can collect the elementals in any order and after all 4 you unlock the final boss level.

In regards to heroic challenges, i think it would be cool if you play out each characters back story rather than a quest. It could be a mini level, i call it Skylanders: Back stories.

Also of note, for a while skylandersgame has been posting pictures of old characters with the hashtag #TBT. Is it a hint for the new game?

Well that has happened, with gigantus. Its possible that we could recruit a new batch of giants in order to save skylands from Arkaos, Kaos' great great great grandfather, and the creator of the Arkeans. In each level, similar to soul gems, you meet a new giant to recruit him or her in order to unlock the use of that characters figure. In addition, the starting characters are portal masters sent back in time, Eon before he was turned into a floating head and an older Hugo, as well as possibly Kaos in some form and then you start gaining an army of giants. The giants wouldn't light up until you enlist or recruit them, so maybe include one of these in the starter pack, and a "Time Portal" to send already released characters back in time. It could be called Skylanders: Turn Back Time (TBT)

Ok the packaging and base colour could be...yellow! And the first level features the cutscene that came at the end of the first level in Giants but then Gigantus walks in and says "uh, where is everyone? Hello? (Turns to camera) Can you help me?" Breaking the 4th wall.
The current portal master, a mabu witch doctor ,walks in and says "I am Portal Master Tempora, i specialise in time portals, and can help you get back your friends and put a true end to the Arkean threat by defeating their creator, Arkaos. Well, I can't, but i know someone who can, a Portal Master named (players name, which was entered upon loading up the game)"
A sequence then occurs where Tempora slams his staff on the ground and a Time Vortex opens up and sucks up Gigantus. The player is then prompted to "Enlist" Gigantus by placing his figure on the portal.
"Thankyou Portal Master (players name )" says Tempora "you have now made Gigantus an official Skylander. There are 2 others we need to conquer the Arkean threat, portal masters called Kaos and Eon, but first we need to hide this gauntlet."

Level 1 starts at the dam where you basically use Gigantus to lock up the gauntlet and enable the dam so that it is hidden.


In level 2 Tempora sends Gigantus 9000 years in the future where you "Enlist" Young Eon as a Skylander and help him to defeat Kaos' Mum. After this you return to the hub 9000 years ago.

In level 3 you go 20,000 years to the future where the Tyrant Wolfgang is ruling and help either Portal Master Hugo or Kaos to defeat him, im not sure which yet but you enlist them and now all 3 starter figures are "activated for use".

You then have a choice of doing the other 17 enlistment levels in any order where you go to different times in Skylands history and have the ability to enlist more Skylanders. All Enlistments happen at the beginning of the level so if you dont have the figure to enlist you just go back later. All characters now have backstories and there are only 20 new figures. Old figures dont need enlisting and reposes only have short herioc challenge style enlistment levels. After the enlistment levels are complete, even if you dont have the figures you just need to play the levels, you have a skylander army and can play the story levels, 14 new levels where you meet and defeat Arkaos.

This adds up to a 30 level game, however there are 5 secret "Team Enlistment Packs that cost as much as a triple pack or maybe expansion pack. The Team Enlistment Pack has an enlistment level and 2 new characters of differing levels. These characters will be completely secret with no hint at all no blank spot on posters no hidden levels or traps or clues whatsoever. When revealed an update for the game will be released allowing the use of the figures and levels. It totals to 30 new figures with 3 of each element. Certain retailers will give away an updated poster with purchases of the Team Expansion Packs.

I most certainly read the whole thing! Excellent work! You have worked in a compelling story with style. You also put forth a very realistic toy roster with a healthy dose of consideration payed to marketing.
They mention portals working with time right from the start and have just barely scratched the surface of the potential in Trap Team.
Your mechanism for recruiting/importing new Skylanders feels pretty practical and smooth.
I enjoyed a moment when you wrote about putting Gigantus on the Portal! It would be great to see him as a full figure!!
I love the idea of you, the new portal master, acting like Eon to find and initiate NEW Skylanders! A very viable and organic progression of the series serving to include the player into the running of Skylands. I know that's the idea I wrote down but you really added focus to it: Finding and recruiting Skylanders like Eon could be an excellent game, adding the time travel just throws the door wide open as to which Skylanders are recruited.
Being the portal master who recruited Eon in the first place would be marvelous! ....can I actually say...a Master Stroke!??...lol
i foresee EGG jokes with the Tempura-like name-which I Like-lol!
I think recruiting Trapped villians like Wolfgang would be fun as well. mean, you have them all trapped at the end of TT.
Recruiting a Skylander: I see a level where you go to find a potential recruit, a giant of the Dark Element called TarPitch. This crafty liquid creature flows over, around or through his enemies . You go to the level "The Tar Pits "and meet him. You go thru an adventure together and, at the finish of the level, you offer him a job as a Skylander. Much like a trapped villain, if you have the Tar Pitch figure, you put him on the portal and he is activated for future use in the game. If you don't have the figure, he asks to visit the Skylander Academy and stays there until you activate him.

Thanks, yeah i figured this was a good collaborative effort.

I've also had an idea to explore the creation of the core of light and to see how skylands has changed over time we've seen it present day, future and past to certain extent but what about see the creation of skylands and how it started floating or seeing a dystopian future. There is incredible potential to see how skylands has changed, and to collect an army of skylanders from all times. Possibly all the ones you enlist will become leaders of their own army in their own time.

The starter pack will have Gigantus, Eon and Kaos figures which will be enlisted in the he first 3 introduction levels. Kaos is a good Kaos after the events of Trap Team and is now a teacher at the skylands academy. The figures have a yellow base and cost the price of a lightcore, matching the feature that they light up when enlisted.

The story occurs after the Giants are sent to Earth. Arkaos (kaos' ancestor ) first plan has failed, but he plans to create an even better army of Arkean robots and use the Time Portal to conquer skylands in prehistoric times. To defeat him Portal Masters from across time must unite in the Place between Time (hub) and defeat his army of Arkean robots.
